Individual Goals
Control & DirectionIndividual Goals capture the personal contributions that each team member makes toward the security program’s objectives. Every Individual Goal links to a parent Team Goal, which in turn links to a CISO Goal, completing the three-tier hierarchy from strategic intent to individual execution.
Individual Goals link upward to Team Goals and integrate with Project Management (task linking). Progress is reflected on the Goals Dashboard.
Managing Individual Goals
Navigate to Objectives & Outcomes > Individual Goals to view all individual-level goals. The list uses an editable table with inline editing, allowing you to update statuses, dates, and assignments directly without opening each record.
Filtering and search
Use the Search and Filter Bar above the table to narrow the list by status or other criteria. Filters help managers quickly identify which individual contributors are on track and which may need support.
Creating an Individual Goal
Open the creation form
Click New Individual Goal or navigate to Objectives & Outcomes > Individual Goals > New.

Link to a parent Team Goal
Select a Team Goal to establish the parent-child relationship. This ensures the Individual Goal rolls up into the team-level view and contributes to the cascading hierarchy visible on the Goals Dashboard.
Save the goal
Click Save to create the goal with a default status of Not Started.
Status lifecycle
Individual Goals share the same status set as CISO and Team Goals:
| Status | When to use |
|---|---|
| Not Started | Goal has been defined but work has not begun |
| In Progress | The individual is actively working toward the goal |
| On Track | Work is progressing and expected to meet the target date |
| At Risk | Progress has stalled or the deadline is in jeopardy |
| Completed | The goal has been achieved |
| Cancelled | The goal has been withdrawn |
Update the status inline from the list view or from the goal detail page.
Linking to project tasks
Individual Goals can be linked to Project Tasks from the Execution Tracking module. This connection ties the goal to specific work items so that both the individual and their manager can see whether the underlying tasks are progressing. Related task IDs are stored on the Individual Goal record and visible from the detail page.
Use cases
Performance alignment — Assign Individual Goals that map directly to Team Goals so every team member has clarity on how their work contributes to the security program. During performance reviews, the goal hierarchy provides an objective record of each person’s contributions.
Onboarding new team members — Create Individual Goals for new hires that align with their team’s current objectives. This gives new team members immediate context on priorities and a structured way to track their ramp-up contributions.
Quarterly planning — At the start of each quarter, create Individual Goals with a Quarterly period type and link them to the corresponding Team Goals. Use the Goals Dashboard to monitor progress throughout the quarter.
Permissions
Managing Individual Goals requires the goals:manage permission. Users with this permission can create, edit, and delete Individual Goals. Users with goals:read can view goals and their linked records but cannot make changes. Individual contributors can typically view and update their own goals based on role-based access configuration.
