Portfolios

Control & Direction

Portfolios group related security projects into a single container for high-level tracking and reporting. Each portfolio has an owner, an optional strategy link, and a color for visual identification. Use portfolios to organize work by program area, regulatory initiative, or business unit so you can quickly assess status across related workstreams.

Portfolios integrate with Projects (project grouping), Strategy Management (strategic alignment), and Reports (filtered exports).

Portfolio list

Navigate to Execution Tracking > Portfolios to view all portfolios. The list view displays portfolios in an editable table with inline editing for fields such as owner and strategy link. Each row shows the portfolio name, description, assigned owner, linked strategy, and color indicator.

The Portfolios Stats Bar at the top of the page provides a summary of portfolio counts and project distribution, giving you a quick read on how work is organized across your security program.

Managing portfolio projects

Projects are assigned to a portfolio from the project creation or edit form by selecting the portfolio in the Portfolio field. From the portfolios list, you can see which projects belong to each portfolio and assess their collective status. Reassigning a project to a different portfolio is done by editing the project and changing the portfolio selection.

Inline editing

Click any editable cell in the portfolios table to update it directly. You can change the owner, update the strategy link, or modify the description without opening a separate form. Changes are saved automatically.

Archiving and deleting

Portfolios that are no longer active can be archived to remove them from the default list view while preserving their data for historical reference. If a portfolio was created in error, you can delete it permanently. Deleting a portfolio does not delete its associated projects; those projects will simply no longer be assigned to a portfolio.

Deleting a portfolio is permanent. Consider archiving portfolios to preserve the historical record for audit and reporting purposes.

Permissions

Managing portfolios requires the projects:manage permission. Users with this permission can create, edit, archive, and delete portfolios. Users with read-only access can view portfolios and their associated projects but cannot make changes.
